Why was Z Nation cancelled? ›

In addition to rising costs, the Z Nation viewership decreased with each season. As dedicated as the Z Nation fanbase is, by season 5 they were almost the only people still invested in the show.

Black Summer is an American horror drama television series created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams. It is a spinoff of Z Nation.

He was the leader of the Westward-Bound Survivor Group, and is a former member of the Upstate New York survivor group. Trying to protect Murphy, he was murdered and turned zombie by Priest Jacob and his Resurrection Cult.

5K (Holden Goyette; season 3, guest season 4), also known as Nature boy, is a survivor of the zombie apocalypse under the protection of Red. He falls off a cliff when he pursues Addy, Lucy, and The Man in the season 3 finale. Red hopes he is still alive somewhere, while 10K believes he is dead.

In the series finale, he finally learns the cure for the zombie virus after eating Sun Mei's brain, but leaves it ambiguous if he'll use it for good or not.

Addy is now seen with an eyepatch. This was most likely caused by her fight with The Man. She and Lucy Murphy rescue a girl from her zombified mother from the car. They get back on the road on their way to Newmerica when they get captured by Zona soldiers.

Viewership fell by nearly 50% by the fifth episode, which aired October 30, and NBC canceled the series the next day, though choosing to air the final eight episodes, which had already been produced. The series finale aired on January 22, 2015.
