Today, we commemorate the global call for peace on the International Day of Peace, universally observed annually on 21 September. In 2023, the theme "Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals" serves as an emphatic call to action, highlighting our shared responsibility to nurture peace, both as individuals and as a collective entity.Aligned with this message, the ASEAN-IPR remains steadfast in its motto of "Forging and Fostering Peace." Peacebuilding is not merely a facet of our work; it constitutes the very core of our mission. On this very day, the ASEAN-IPR's Governing Council and Advisory Board convene in the enchanting city of Yogyakarta; delibrating on strategies to advance positive peace in the region.May the spirit of peace today radiate outward from our region to every corner of the world.#ASEAN #ASEAN_IPR #peace #reconciliation #ASEAN4Peace #ForgingandFosteringPeace #InternationalPeaceDay

Comprehensive strategic partnership, that is a whole new level. What a historical moment! The right question now: What does Vietnam have to offer? What can we bring to the table? Not the other way around. America of course has so much to offer. But what can we return? “There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies, only permanent interests". What can we do, as a nation, or business, or individual level, to keep that interest permanently?

The legacy of Nguyen Phu Trong 1Nguyen Phu Trong's tenure as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam has been marked by a cautious approach to reform and a steadfast commitment to national stability. While his leadership has ushered in a period of consistent economic growth and strengthened Vietnam's position on the global stage, his legacy remains intertwined with accomplishments and lingering challenges. One of Trong's defining legacies is his ambitious anti-corruption campaign. This initiative, aimed at tackling a deeply entrenched issue, has been a defining feature of his leadership. While the campaign's boldness in targeting high-ranking officials is undeniable, it has also attracted criticism for a lack of transparency in certain cases. The question now is whether the system can sustain the momentum without Trong's direct involvement.

In the heart of the South Pacific, nestled amongst lush rainforests and pristine coastlines, lies Papua New Guinea, a land rich in history, languages, and traditions. This is the story of its hard-fought journey to independence, a nation united under one flag, a tapestry woven by our forefathers.Long before the arrival of European explorers, Papua New Guinea was a land of diverse cultures and languages, each with its own unique identity. The indigenous people had cultivated a deep connection with their land, living in harmony with nature for generations. The arrival of European colonizers in the 19th century marked a significant turning point. Papua New Guinea became divided between British and German rule, with the eastern half under British control and the western half under German administration. However, the spirit of independence was quietly kindling among the people. As the world changed with the aftermath of World War II, so did the aspirations of Papua New Guineans. The United Nations had placed a spotlight on self-determination and the end of colonial rule. It was a time when dreams of sovereignty began to take root.In 1973, the Australian government, which had administered Papua New Guinea since the end of World War II, began preparations for the nation's journey to independence. Over the next few years, a constitution was drafted, and the people of Papua New Guinea, from the coastal villages to the highlands, participated in a series of consultations and referendums. Finally, on September 16, 1975, the momentous day arrived. The sun rose on a free and independent Papua New Guinea, and its flag, proudly displaying the bird of paradise, was hoisted for the first time. The country had overcome linguistic and geographical diversity to stand together as one nation. From that day forward, Papua New Guinea has continued to evolve, embracing its rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. It has faced challenges, celebrated triumphs, and worked towards prosperity for all its citizens.Today, as the sun sets on each evening in Papua New Guinea, it does so on a nation whose history is a testament to the resilience, unity, and determination of its people. From the coastal shores to the towering highlands, from east to west, the story of Papua New Guinea's independence is a reminder that in diversity, there is strength.#papuanewguineaindependence#unityindiversity#wanpeoplewannationwansolwara#GodBlessPNG

As a Vietnamese woman educated in Europe, I'm excited about the historic comprehensive partnership with the U.S. Instead of asking what Vietnam can gain, let's exactly focus on what we can offer: our culture, economic potential, commitment to sustainability, and dedication to human rights. To grow this partnership, we should prioritize economic collaboration, education, cultural exchange but also on sustainability, women's empowerment, human rights advocacy,... By working together, we can ensure a bright future for both nations and not be preceived as a copy of China.(my two cents)
